Boxing experts give their thoughts on how Kell Brook can tackle Terence Crawford
Commonwealth Games gold medallist
A very tough assignment for Kell Brook. He is the taller boxer but Crawford has a significant reach advantage. You would need the very best Kell Brook to turn up and even then I feel Crawford would have to have an off night for Kell to prevail.
Kell Brook is big, has superb timing and can punch but he will have to reproduce the form he managed against Shawn Porter if he is to come close. The normally agonising cut to 147lbs and the presence of a brand new trainer, however, are concerns. It would be one of the biggest wins involving a Brit in boxing history.
It’s a very tough ask for Kell. Perhaps if Crawford overlooks him and Kell uses his superior size to disrupt the slick technician’s rhythm it could be interesting, but if Kell has a great night anything is possible, I’ve always been a huge fan of Kell’s talent.
He’s got to not show him respect and allow him to find his range early. He’s got to physically close the distance and fight inside. He’s got to try and impose himself because he will be bigger on the night.
World title challenger
Kell needs to be at his best to beat Crawford. Anything less will not do. He needs to use his size and strength in a clever way and keep focused for 12 rounds.
